GETTING READY
When it comes to getting ready, the hotel generally will provide a getting-ready location. However, I always recommend adding a suite to your wedding package to ensure that you and your wedding party have a dedicated space for taking photos, relaxing, and enjoying some room service before the festivities begin. The getting-ready space can easily accommodate 10-15 people without feeling crowded. Additionally, there's an optional suite called Ponto, which you can book separately. It's an amazing modern space filled with beautiful natural light (and did I mention the ocean view? It's breathtaking!).
THE CEREMONY LOCATION
Ceremonies generally take place on the Ocean Bluff, an outdoor area right by the ocean. It's a fantastic space that can be personalized to reflect your unique vision. You might be curious about the cement block located on the bluff. I had the opportunity to ask the venue manager about it, and she explained that it's a bench dedicated to someone who was a great supporter of the hotel and the City of Encinitas but unfortunately passed away. To incorporate it into your design, you can decorate the floor with flowers to soften the look, create a custom structure around it, or even use it as a centerpiece with varying heights, adding flower holders or candles. Although the ceremony location is near the pool area, guests have always been respectful during events. The staff even goes the extra mile by offering a glass of champagne to pool-goers around the ceremony time, kindly reminding them of the special occasion. This gesture is generally appreciated, and guests understand the importance of not interfering with the event.
COCKTAIL HOUR
When it's time for the cocktail hour, you have two options for your Alila Marea wedding. You can either host it on the Bluff, close to the ceremony site, or in the Oceana Foyer and Terrace, which provide a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean. The combination of the ballroom, foyer, and terrace creates a unique indoor-outdoor experience that sets the perfect ambiance for mingling and enjoying drinks and hors d'oeuvres.
RECEPTION
The reception takes place in the elegant Oceana ballroom, which has so many things to love. The modern chandeliers add a touch of glamour, and the warm earthy tones of the carpet and walls create a welcoming atmosphere. What's truly remarkable is that one wall of the ballroom is basically a huge glass door that opens up to the cocktail hour area and ocean view.

In the grand scheme of things, I can't emphasize enough how incredible the staff and service at Alila are. Each time I've had the pleasure of working with the catering managers and organizing events for our lovely couples, it has been a truly exceptional experience. The banquet staff is impressively prepared and professional, making collaboration an absolute joy. And when it comes to dietary needs and special requests, the kitchen team has got it down to a science.
